Why Don't Other Electricians Publish Their Prices for Emergency Service Calls?

The Emergency Electrician

In the moment an electrical fault strikes, you need immediate help and professional reassurance. At 786 Electricals Ltd, we are grateful for the trust the community has placed in us since 2010. That's why we believe being called out in an emergency should be a demonstration of our honesty, not an opportunity for exploitation.

You might be wondering why so few electricians publish their emergency rates online. We do, and this is why we believe it matters.

The True Cost of Hidden Pricing and the 'Middleman' Trap

The secrecy surrounding emergency call prices often comes down to two issues:

charging based on panic, and the rise of costly intermediaries.

The Problem of the Intermediary

When you desperately search online, you might unknowingly contact a national call-handling service—not the local electrician. These "in-between" maintenance companies charge a steep, non-refundable upfront fee, often £199 to £250 plus VAT, just to dispatch an electrician. You then have to pay the electrician's hourly rate on top of that booking fee.

Is this fair? Can people afford it? We believe that placing such a significant financial burden on a vulnerable customer is a failure of morality.

Our Transparent Commitment to You

By always publishing our rates and handling your call directly, we cut out the costly middleman. You get a rapid response from a NAPIT Approved Contractor at a clear, known price, with every penny going directly toward resolving your fault safely and efficiently.

Our Clear Hourly Rates (No Call-Out Fee. No VAT.)

For all emergency service calls, our labour is charged as follows:

  • Standard Hours (Mon-Fri, 8 am – 4 pm): £75
  • Emergency Hours (7 Days, 4 pm – 8 am): £100

There is a minimum charge equivalent to the first hour. Labour is then charged in half-hour segments thereafter. The clock starts when we leave our base. We are proud to confirm that we do not charge a separate call-out fee or VAT on our labour.

Our Service Philosophy: We’re On Your Side

Our commitment to you goes far beyond just publishing a number. We aim to build a strong reputation that is founded on genuine help and outstanding communication.

We Solve Your Problem, Even If We Don't Attend

We know that sometimes, a minor trip or fault can be fixed with a little expert guidance. Based on our glowing online reviews, you will see that we have often helped people fix their situation over the phone, completely free of charge. We easily could have attended and billed for the minimum hour, but our priority is establishing trust and making a positive difference in the community.

Our Gratitude Built Our Reputation

Since establishing in 2010, we have grown thanks to the loyalty and kind referrals of our customers. We work tirelessly to maintain this reputation by ensuring our communication is clear, our team is helpful, and our work meets the highest standards. When you contact 786 Electricals, you’re not dealing with a faceless company; you’re dealing with professionals who are committed to your safety and satisfaction.
